Assessment of Nurses ‘knowledge and Practices Regarding Children Undergoing Gastrointestinal Surgery

Introduction: Gastrointestinal anomalies are structural defects and incomplete or abnormal development of digestive organs can cause blockages, vomiting problems with bowel movements. Nurses identify implement nursing care for children undergoing gastrointestinal surgeries. The study was aimed at assessing nurses' knowledge practices towards caring gastrointestinal. Design: A descriptive design utilized in conducting the study. Settings: This conducted two different settings, surgical departments a pediatric hospital affiliated to Ain- Shams University Hospitals, Abou El -Resh EL- Monera Cairo Subjects: Purposive sample composed all (60) available nurses previously mentioned settings. Tools, questionnaire sheet, observation checklists. Results: results illustrated that, less than two-thirds studied had satisfactory total knowledge, while more them competent actual practice regarding Conclusion: Nurses’ surgeries were by half nurses.
